Orange County resident Cameron Williams, age 25, of New Windsor, was charged on Wednesday, Nov. 6, for the Sunday, Oct. 13 incident in the city of Newburgh.
According to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler, he was remanded to jail in place of $1,000,000 cash bail, $3,000,000 fully secured bond, and $10,000,000 partially secured bond.
As alleged in court documents, after an altercation, Williams retrieved several kitchen knives from a house, approached the man who was lying on West Parmenter St., and repeatedly stabbed him to death.
An investigation by the city of Newburgh Police developed Williams as a suspect and led to his arrest.
“The violent acts allegedly perpetrated by this defendant are unconscionable,” said Hoovler. “I commend the City of Newburgh Police for their quick response and investigation, which led to the arrest."
